Sohan-Mominul secure first win for Mahmudullah XI after early collapse
Mahmudullah XI sealed their first win of the tournament after beating Tamim XI by five wickets. It was low scoring with two sides getting dominated by the bowlers.
Mahmudullah XI put Tamim XI to bat first after winning the toss. Skipper Tamim Iqbal departed early courtesy of a great delivery by Rubel Hossain and it continued to fire right throughout his first spell. He finished with three wickets. However, youngster Tanzid Hassan was looking promising at the other end before departing for a well-made 27.
The batting side kept losing wickets right throughout the middle overs and the team bowled out for only 103 runs in the end after Anamul departed for only 25 despite being well set. After Rubel, Sumon Khan picked up two wickets while Mehidy Hasan, who missed the first game also picked up one wicket.
In reply, Mahmudullah XI had a horrifying start as they lost three wickets without a run on the board. Naim Sheikh was the first man to depart for a duck followed by Liton Das and Imrul Kayes. Skipper Mahmudullah rescued the sinking ship along with Mominul Haque.
Taijul Islam brought the breakthrough for the side after removing r Mominul and Mahmudullah. But it was too late in the end, as well-set batsman Nurul Islam Sohan took the side over the line with his unbeaten knock of 41* from 38 balls.
