Someone will score 100, 200 or 300: Mominul
No batsman from Bangladesh team could show true character and tempurement for Test cricket in recent past. So much so that Bangladesh batsmen are without a single individual century in their last four Test matches.
However, terming the recent lacklustre form as a “bad patch”, Bangladesh Test captain Mominul Haque said it is going to end soon, and someone from Bangladesh is going to smack a big knock in their upcoming lone Test against Zimbabwe starting Saturday.
“To be honest, not having a hundred in the recent matches means that you are performing below-par. We are going through a bad patch as a team. Almighty willing, we are working on overcoming this. I am giving my word that someone from the team will play a big innings, will score 100, 200 or 300.”
Not only individual performance wise, but on a whole Bangladesh are lacking the basics needed to do well in the longest version of the game.
Bangladesh lost all six of their last six matches; five of them by an innings margin, with the othera 224-run thumping by Test rookies Afghanistan at home.
But Mominul is of the opinion that the situation is not that serious yet, as just a win can change the whole scenerio.
“I think that if we can win this match, the whole scenario will change, we will overcome our bad patch. The way we are training will become a lot better than it looks right now,” he said at the pre-match press conference in Mirpur.
