Soumya, Ebadat lead BCB XI to register comprehensive victory

After Ebadat Hossain’s magnificent fifer, skipper Soumya Sarkar scored unbeaten 102 runs off 114 balls with 11 fours & sixes to lead BCB XI registered a 8-wicket comprehensive victory over Zimbabwe in the one-off 50-over warm-up match at Savar, BKSP. Winning the toss, the visitors opted to bat first. From the very beginning of the match, they struggled to face Ebadat Hossain and Mohammad Saifuddin.

In front of their flaming bowling display, Zimbabwe lost their top five batsmen within  16 overs to score 47 runs.

In the sixth wicket-stand, two experienced campaigners – Hamilton Masakadza alongside Elton Chigumbura build up a 124 runs stand which created chances for Zimbabwe to set a competitive total.

All of a sudden, both the batsmen dismissed and Zimbabwe collapsed 171-6 to 178-10. Chigumbura was bowled by Saifuddin on 47 while Masakadza scored a well-judged 102. He was removed by Ebadat who bagged a fifer by bowling only 9 overs with 3 maidens.

Among the other bowlers, Saifuddin bagged 3 for 32, Mohor Sheikh and Imran Ali both of them got one wicket each.

In reply of Zimbabwe’s small total, Bangladesh lost Mizanur Rahman early as he got run-out after scoring 8 runs. Then skipper Soumya joined in the middle with Fazle Rabbi.

They added 41 runs in the second wicket-stand. Later on, Rabbi got out for 13 runs and Bangladesh lost their second wicket on 52. Despite losing partner, Soumya remained focused and made a 112 runs partnership with Mosaddek Hossain in the third wicket stand.

Mosaddek left the ground as retired hurt after adding 33 runs. Then Ariful Haque joined with the skipper.

Soumya hammered  114-ball 102 runs by adorning his innings with 13 fours and a six and left the ground by securing 8 wickets comprehensive victory against the visitors. Ariful Haque remained not our at 8.
