Sourav Ganguly hit out mercilessly for a tweet about the Indian Women cricket losing in the CWG final
Sourav Ganguly's recent tweet about the defeat of the Indian women's cricket team in the 2022 Commonwealth Games final has drawn the ire of fans.
BCCI President Sourav Ganguly's recent tweet about the heartbreaking defeat of the Indian women's cricket team in the 2022 Commonwealth Games final did not go down well with cricket fans.
The Indian women's cricket team suffered a heartbreaking loss to Australia in the final game of the 2022 Commonwealth Games as they lost by 9 runs. With Australia restricted to 161/8, India, despite some brilliant shots from captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues, fell and were eliminated at 152. A mid-order collapse did not help India's cause to defeat the powerful Australians.
Losing fast wickets derailed India's chase and the team settled for silver. Although India missed out on the gold medal, winning silver in their first appearance was a big deal.
However, he was slammed by the Indian fans who called him a shameless guy and the biggest disappointment.
This is how Twitter reacted
"You shouldn't be disappointed. You can be proud of this silver medal. They should be disappointed that they still don't have a suitable system for them. And it's a bit ironic when he talks about a last game," wrote one of the fans.
"Sourav Ganguly is an absolute disgrace."
“With all due respect sir, we even need IPL for women for a month. Currently we have sorted the top middle order and bowler but we need this pressure handling scenario. That will only come through leagues like WBBL and the Women's Hundred. Women’s Challenger Trophy is not enough.”
Speaking of the match, India limited Australia to 161 for 8 in 20 overs. In response, Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur added 96 runs, but the team lost the last five wickets for just 13 runs.
