Proteas have appointed new coach Ottis Gibson. He will be coaching and training up the players for test series against Bangladesh. It is the first mission of Gibson for Proteas to play against any team after he’s given the new job.
But in this series South African cricket authority has kept the other staffs unchanged. So the supporting staffs who were formerly led by Russell Domingo will be there to prepare team against Bangladesh.
This Wednesday CSA President Chris Nenzani said, “After consulting with new head coach Ottis Gibson we have taken the decision to keep the old staffs with him. After series against Bangladesh new staffs will be appointed.”
In this upcoming series the job of assistant coach will be over Adrian Birrell. Neil Mckenzie will be there as batting coach and Charles Langeveldt will act as bowling coach. Clude Henderson as spin bowling advisor, Prasanna Agorram as video analyst, Muhammad Moosajee as manager and other fielding-fitness coaches will be there as they were.
Ottis Gibson, the former West Indian seamer and head coach (2010 – 2014) was supposed to be there with new coaching staffs but due to his late arrival the old ones are kept until this series. Gibson is expected to be there within next Monday after finishing his job as bowling Coach of England Cricket team.
South Africa will play two test matches, three ODIs and two T20Is against Bangladesh in the upcoming series. The first test match of the series will kick off on 28th September.
