Spin will be decisive during World Cup: Shakib Al Hasan

In less than a month from now on, ICC World Cup 2019 will be underway in England and Wales. Lot of altercations have been going around regarding the wicket and weather condition in England – the land which is traditionally known as pace assisting, participating teams have comprised respective squads with possible pace options.

But Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan stated otherwise, said spin would play a considerable role hence it could be decisive as well.

“Spin will play an important role because of the formation of the tournament. It’s a long tournament, some matches are in England, so it’s going to get dry, spinners will play a big part in the World Cup, especially in the later part of the tournament,”

Shakib said as quoted by the Indian media where he is still staying with his Indian Premier League franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Shakib was expected to arrive back home on April 23 to join the team’s pre-season training camp, but as Jonny Bairstow departed, Shakib stayed having the opportunity of playing some more matches in IPL this year.

“I am doing everything that I could do to prepare myself for the World Cup. I need to play a few more matches which would be helpful for me, but I am giving my best as far as the preparations are concerned. I can train back in Bangladesh, but I am doing the same training here in the IPL,” he said.

Bangladesh begin their World Cup campaign against South Africa at the Oval on June 2.
