Sri Lanka announce 23 members primary squad for Bangladesh series


Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced primary squad for Bangladesh series. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are scheduled to play three match Test series which will begin at October. Interestingly, the board has named six fresh faces among them 4 cricketers were not introduced in any form of cricket before.

Bangladesh team will fly to Sri Lanka within couple of weeks as the team have to maintain a mandatory quarantine period for a long 14 days. The first Test of the three-match series is scheduled to start on October 24. The second and third matches of the series will be played in November.

Sri Lanka has announced a 23-member preliminary squad for the series. The country’s cricket board, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), has not yet made an official announcement, but Sri Lankan media have named 23 cricketers.

The Six of the cricketers called up for the preliminary squad have yet to make their debuts. They are Lahiru Udara, Dabindu Tilekaratne, Santosh Gunathileka, Minod Vanuka, Wanindu Hasaranga and Kamindu Mendis. Among them, Wanindu Hasaranga and Kamindu Mendis played for the limited overs team but the rest have not yet worn the national team jersey.

Sri Lanka Cricket, however, has not yet announced the final schedule of the series. With the series , Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will resume cricket with this series.

Sri Lanka’s primary squad: Dimuth Karunaratne (captain), Oshada Fernando, Lahiru Udara, Kushal Mendis, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Kushal Perera, Niroshan Dickwella, Minod Vanuka, Lahiniru, Lahirinu , Dilruwan Perera, Laxman Sandakan, Lasith Embuldenia, Dubindu Tillakaratne, Suranga Lakmal, Lahiru Kumara, Bishwa Fernando, Kasun Rajita, Asita Fernando.
