Bangladesh Legends get points for the first time in Road Safety World Series 

The match between Bangladesh
Legends and India Legends of Road Safety World Series has been abandoned due to
rain on Sunday (September 22). Both the teams get two points.

Naman Ojha was dismissed in the third over by Abdur Razzak. When India’s team
total was at 29 runs for 1 wicket after 4 overs, the rain came again. Earlier, India's
innings got off to a late start due to rain. But after that, it was not
possible to continue the match again.
India won the toss and sent
Bangladesh to bat first. Bangladesh's two openers Mehrab Hossain and Nazmus
Sadat scored runs slowly from the beginning. Bangladesh lost the first wicket at
12 runs. Mehrab was trapped lbw by Abhimanyu Mithun in the fourth over. He
scored 3 runs off 8 balls.
Aftab Ahmed, who came at three,
increased the rate of the runs. In the sixth over, he hit three fours in a row
in Manpreet Gony’s over. At the end of the powerplay, the scorecard of the team
stood at 32 runs for 1 wicket.
But Aftab could not increase his
score. H caught out for 20 runs off 14 balls with 3 fours. This right-handed
batsman was sent back by Vinay Kumar in the 7th over, when
Bangladesh collected 37 runs.
Alok Kapali (4) also returned
after being run out. Then Pragyan Ojha dismissed Sadat. This opener played 30
balls but did not hit any boundaries, scored only 16 runs. Bangladesh scored 49
runs for 4 wickets in the first 10 overs. Abul Hasan (2), Elias Sunny (5),
Khaled Mashud Pilot (2) could not score any significant runs with the bat.
Dhiman Ghosh scored 23 runs off 24
balls which was the highest in Bangladesh innings. In the end, Bangladesh
scored 121 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs, thanks to Mohammad Sharif's 11, Dolar
Mahmud's 16 and Abdur Razzak's 13 runs.

SLC seeking 'practical approach' on quarantine rule for LPL foreign players

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board is seeking ‘practical approach’ on quarantine rules for the foreign players who are to come to play the LPL (Lanka Premier League).

The authorities have been awaiting the guide lines from the health ministry and hoping to get some relaxation on quarantine rules, according Prof. Arjuna de Silva, the chairman of the SLC's Medical Panel.

The series against the Bangladesh team had been postponed though the players were to arrive via chartered flights.

Speaking exclusively over the telephone from Colombo on Tuesday afternoon, he said,
<blockquote>"COVID-19 is a fluid situation. There is no rule book. Nothing is written in stone. We need to use the latest science and technology to help sports move forward.”</blockquote>
"Currently the bio secure bubble seems to be working well. Using charter flights combined with a robust testing strategy you will have a secure system. We would like to use this in the LPL, South African and England tours.”

"We may see some freedom be given to the players coming via non-commercial flights from one bubble to another and play here.”

Excited

In the meantime, Manpreet Gony is ‘excited’ to play the tournament. "We have not been playing cricket for so long due to corona and therefore I don't want to miss it,” speaking to this reporter, he said.

"I have already retired from international cricket and therefore NOC from the BCCI is not required,” Gony, who played two T20I, added.

Another Indian player, Manvinder Bisla has pulled off because of the strict quarantine rules.

Immediately after BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papan's visit to India, it was confirmed that a formal proposal for Indian cricketers to play in the BPL had been made to BCCI President Sourav Ganguly. It was heard that the BCCI's newly appointed president had also given preliminary consent to the matter.

However, no formal information had been announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) or the BPL governing council. Finally, after unveiling the official logo of Bangabandhu BPL 2019-20, there saw three Indian cricketers in Players’ Draft list.

BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon indicated this in a talk with the media after the logo was unveiled. He, however, said that no national or domestic Indian cricketers could be found in this season, even with the consent of India. They may be available from next season.
<blockquote>"I gave them the (BCCI) proposal. However, the Indian cricketers have a point of agreement that they will not be able to play outside league if they disobey. They gave verbal consent. Those outside the contract will be available in BPL. Since this is a timely matter, this time the BPL may not be available. Some contracted Indian cricketers will be seen right next season,”</blockquote>
he said.

So, according to his words three Indian cricketers who are outside any contract at that moment will be available for this year’s BPL.  Three Indian cricketers are-  Manvinder Bisla, Kumar Boresa and Manpreet Gony. Wicketkeeper batsman Bisla in 'D' Grade, right-arm pacer Gony in 'B' grade and spinning all-rounder Boresa have been placed in 'C' grade in BPL Players’ Draft list.

Manpreet Gony is a former Indian cricketer. He has a lots of experience in T20 cricket. He played for several teams in IPL like Chennai Super Kings, Deccan Chargers, Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians. He was one of leading wicket takers in the Indian Premier League and also performed well with the bat, scoring crucial runs in the last overs. He has 96 wickets in 90 T20 matches.

Manvinder Bisla is also an experienced cricketer in the shortest format of the game. He also played many matches in IPL with Deccan Chargers, Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. He played a match winning innings of 89 off 48 balls for Kolkata Knight Riders against the Chennai Super Kings in the final of the 2012 IPL to guide his team to a 5 wicket win. He received the Man of the Match award for this innings.

24-year old Kumar Boresa is also a potential young player. Borsea, a winner of 'Cricket Star Rajasthan' was initially slated for an internship with IPL team Rajasthan Royals but seeing his potential, the management decided to upgrade his internship to a full-term IPL contact.

Foreign players are divided into 'A +', 'A', 'B', 'C' and 'D' grades. The highest players are available in the 'D' grade which are 272. Apart from this, 11 players have been placed in 'A +' grade, 15 in 'A' grade, 66 in 'B' grade and 75 in 'C' grade.

The highest number of 95 players are from England. Apart from this, from Pakistan 89 players, West Indies 66 players, Sri Lanka 44 players, Afghanistan 39 players, South Africa 35 players, Canada 14 players, Zimbabwe 9 players, Ireland 7 players, United Arab Emirates 5 players, Netherlands 5 players, Oman 4 players, Hong Kong, Australia and India 3 players each and from Nepal 2 players have been taken. Besides, there are five players from Germany, Namibia and New Zealand.

Eleven foreigners in 'A +' grade are Dane Vilas (South Africa), Shahid Afridi (Pakistan), Rilee Rossouw (South Africa), Mohammad Nabi (Afghanistan), Shoaib Malik (Pakistan), Hasan Ali (Pakistan), Chris Gayle (West Indies), Thisara Perera (Sri Lanka), Darren Bravo (West Indies), Dwayne Smith (West Indies) and Mujeeb ur Rahman (Afghanistan).
