The cricketers of the Bangladesh national team will camp in Dubai to prepare for the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia. The Tigers are scheduled to leave the country for Dubai on an evening flight on September 22.
The cricketers will prepare themselves for the New Zealand tri-series and the World Cup by playing two T20I matches against the United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, it is still uncertain whether the team's biggest star and captain Shakib Al Hasan will join the team in Dubai.
Shakib left the country on September 5 to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Shakib will play in CPL for Guyana Amazon Warriors. Guyana's last match in the league is on September 25. If the team make it to the knockout stage, Shakib will have to spend a few more days in the West Indies.
Meanwhile, thinking about the country's rainy weather, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) suddenly planned to camp in Dubai. The board has also organized two international T20 matches against UAE to prepare the best there. The two matches will be held on September 25 and 27. However, it depends on the decision of the team management whether Shakib will leave the CPL and join the team.
BCB Chief Executive Officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury said, “There is no such update. As we said earlier, we gave him (Shakib) NOC to play this tournament (CPL). Since it is a sudden decision of ours, we will do the tour. In that case, the team management will decide to keep Shakib or not if they think so."
