Mominul Haque made it clear at a press conference after the day-night Test in Eden. “If the batsmen could play responsibly, there would be more fight in the Test match,” said the Bangladesh captain.

“It doesn’t make sense to show excuses as a professional cricketer. I will not give any excuse. Those who are already defeated give excuses. We couldn’t play as a team and couldn’t even make a big partnership. Yesterday Mushfiq and Riyad had a good partnership. If we could build a partnership like this, we might have survived the match. We batted very badly.”

The captain believed there had been a lot to learn from this series. “There is a lot to learn from this series. How do you play, what to prepare for next, I think everyone in the team will take this as a lesson. That learning will give a lot of to the series in a year or two,” he said.
