The former Indian cricketer and the coach of Lucknow Super Giants, Gautam Gambhir has come up with a statement on Avesh Khan. The right-arm pacer has played the first T20I against South Africa at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
India lost the match, as they failed to defend the total of 211 runs posted by them. Ishan Kishan made his comeback after a horrible IPL season. He smashed 76 runs with the help of 11 fours and 3 sixes.
Hardik Pandya also looked in his prime form, smashing 31 off just 12 balls by coming down the order for his team.
However, Rassie van der Dussen and David Miller made their side run over the victory line. Both the batters remained unbeaten on 75 and 64 runs, as David Miller has been named Player of the Match for his fabulous knock against India.
IPL should not be his goal: Gautam Gambhir
Avesh-KhanRecently, Gautam Gambhir has come up with an opinion for Avesh Khan who has been decent with the ball in the 1st T20I against South Africa. While everyone leaked runs in their spell, Avesh Khan gave away just 35 runs even after conceding 15 runs in his first over.
While Speaking on Star Sports, Gautam Gambhir said, "This bowler has a lot of talent, he has pace, a big heart to bowl the difficult overs. But I will want to see him improve further in every match. He is a young bowler, only the IPL should not be his goal, the T20 World Cup is coming ahead."
"It is a good thing if one player pushes the other, then you can bring out a better performance from the other player, which you want. Your squad is a good one when every player is pushed, the other player comes and pushes you and Mohsin Khan did that exceptionally well," he added.
