Despite getting dropped from the team in the last series against Australia, wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has been picked for the upcoming World Cup in England.

Time was ticking in and so as Dinesh Karthik’s nerves. After getting dropped from the side against Australia in the last ODI series, the chances were very minimal of him getting preferred over the young Rishabh Pant.

But as they say, experience beats talent in bigger stages, Karthik’s broken dream turned into reality as he was picked over Pant after India announced the 15-man squad for the World Cup on Monday.

Meanwhile, another wicket-keeper batsman and Karthik’s team-mate Robin Uthappa gave a heartful message to his skipper of his IPL side after hearing the news of his inclusion.

Uthappa also labelled Karthik as the best finisher in the Indian team for the last 2 years.

“If ever a person deserved to be in this World Cup squad on merit and his performances, it has been @dk00019!! STOKED for him !!  Justice has been done! Easily the best finisher in the Indian squad in the past 2 years,” Uthappa said on his Instragram.

Karthik’s turning point of the career was in Nidahas Trophy when he played a blinder of an innings against Bangladesh in the final to clinch the trophy for the men in blue. Since then, he has been a consistent face in India’s limited-overs side.

There was a thing to worry once again after he was dropped from the side against Australia. But Karthik finally got the much-deserved call-up and the stage is all set for the experienced batsman to try and become the hero for India.
