Video: Kohli bowls an over of slow-medium pace in Christchurch Test
Indian captain Virat Kohli was seen performing different role during the second and final Test match against New Zealand at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. It is really hard to imagine Kohli as a bowler and the skipper did try his luck as he swung his arms by bowling low medium-fast pace.
Kohli was last seen bowling in a tour match during India’s tour of Australia in 2018. He rarely bowls at the highest level nowadays. During the third day, Virat Kohli bowled an over of slow-medium pace after New Zealand players almost secured victory.
Chasing 132, opening batsmen Tom Latham and Tom Blundell took the Indian bowling attack to cleaners as they constructed a 103-run match-winning opening partnership.
It was on the last ball of the 28th over, India fast bowler Umesh Yadav dismissed Tom Latham (52) after he looked uncomfortable against a short ball.
Soon after that, India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah dismissed New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson (5) and Blundell (55). However, with the home side almost reached the target, it was not a big problem at all.
In the penultimate over of the game, Virat Kohli himself brought into the bowling attack with New Zealand needing just seven runs to win the match. In the only over that Virat Kohli bowled, he leaked four runs.
Talking about the match, New Zealand chased down the target by seven wickets and in the process, they whitewashed India by 2-0 in the Test series.
