Video: UAE fielder Shehzad pulls off a blinder
The game of cricket has seen some terrific catches and thanks to the fielders who make it possible by pulling off some absolute blinders during the passage of play. This time it was UAE’s fielder who put on a good show with his breathtaking fielding effort against Scotland in Delhi.
During the third qualifying playoff fixture of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier between UAE and Scotland in Dubai, UAE batsman Rameez Shehzad stole the spotlight as he dismissed Scotland opening batsman George Munsey at the best scene.
It happened during the very second ball of the 14th over when Munsey’s attempt of going for a big shot against UAE spinner Ahmed Raza backfired him as he lost his life after Rameez Shehzad took a remarkable catch at long-off.
After Munsey smashed the ball down the ground, Shehzad had his eyes on the ball and quickly ran towards his left to finally time his jump to grab a one-handed screamer. The fans, commentators applauded the catch.
Munsey, who started the batting with captain Kyle Coetzer (34), was the second Scottish batsman to get dismissed. Having top-scored for his team due to his fifth T20I half-century, Munsey ended up scoring 65 (43), hitting two fours and five sixes.
After Coetzer won the toss and elected to bat first, Scotland posted a match-winning 198/6 in 20 overs. Richie Berrington showcased his sheen with the bat, scoring 48 (18) with the help of four fours and three sixes and also played a vital role in the batting department for Scotland.
In reply, Scottish bowlers skittled out the opposition for a mere 108 in 18.3 overs as Scotland won the match by 90 runs.
