Waqar Younis to be honoured at Bradman Foundation Gala Dinner
The 13th annual Bradman Foundation Gala Dinner will be held on Wednesday 13 November 2019 at the Sydney Cricket Ground, according to Monica Donoso, the Executive: Cultural Projects, Bradman Museum.
“This year we are honouring Mr Waqar Younis, one of Pakistan’s greatest ever fast bowlers. As always, many past and current Test players should be in attendance. There will also be a tribute to former Prime Minister Bob Hawke on his contribution to politics, cricket and the Australian way of life delivered by The Hon John Howard”, the official added.
“Incidentally, 2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the Bradman Museum. On October 14, 1989 Sir Donald and Lady Jessie Bradman stood on the steps of the Bradman Oval pavilion and officially declared the Bradman Museum open”.
“The evening at the SCG will commence at 6.00pm with canapés and drinks served on the ground followed by a three-course gourmet meal with selected wines”.
“We are still finalizing the Gala dinner presentation and more to it will be released later”, Andrew Summerell, the Museum Curator (Collections Manager) said later.
Waqar Younis will be the first Pakistani cricketer with this honour.
Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid were honoured in 2010 and 2012 respectively.
