Wasim is better bowler than McGrath, says Dilshan
Legendary Sri Lanka batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan thinks that Pakistan great Wasim Akram was a better bowler than Australia icon Glenn McGrath from some perspective.
Recently the former Sri Lanka all-rounder revealed his best ODI international all-time XI where he included Akram instead of Australian legend McGrath.
Dilshan reasoned that Akram is the second highest wicket taker in ODI. Before retirement, Akram picked 502 wickets in 356 matches at 23.52 average.
The former skipper compared Akram with Mcgrath and reasoned that as for McGrath, he is the seventh-highest wicket-taker in ODI cricket with 381 wickets in 250 matches with 22.34 average.
Explaining more why he preferred Akram over McGrath, Dilshan told ESPNcricinfo:
“What do I say about him? He’s one of the greatest left-arm bowlers in the game. He could swing the ball and he had the best yorker of those days. I pick him over Glenn McGrath because he can swing the ball.”
Dilshan is one of the best Sri Lanka cricket legend alive. He is one of the top rated batsman for chases in ODI history. He is often regarded as one of the most innovative and greatest ODI batsmen cricket ever witnessed.
Dilshan is considered to be a rare example of a cricketer with notable skills in all aspects of the game. From the perspective of cricket, he can bat, bowl, field and keep wicket all equally, which proves such a class he had. He is an aggressive right-hand batsman who invented the scoop, which has come to be known as the Dilscoop.
