Wasim Jaffer travels to Sri Lanka as Bangladesh batting coach

Bangladesh cricket team reaching Sri Lanka on Saturday will have different specialist coaches from different countries.
Steve Rhodes, who has been removed as a head coach is replaced by an interim coach- Khaled Mahmud Sujon. Interestingly, Sujon has been BCB’s (Bangladesh Cricket Board) man of crisis. He has officiated on this role and also as a manager in the past when situation arose.
It will be a home coming for Chamapka Ramanayake. He will fill the role of a bowling coach. The BCB has terminated Courtney Walsh’s contract and appointed Chamapka, who also is the manager at the High-Performance Centre.
India’s Wasim Jaffer is arriving as a batting coach. Jaffer has been hired by the BCB as the batting consultant.
These appointments are only for the Sri Lanka tour, where Bangladesh team will play three ODIs’ (July 26, 28 and 31 at the R. Premadasa Stadium).
In the meantime, Sri Lanka’s head coach Chandika Hathrusingha arrived from Australia on Friday.
“Because of the heavy rain in the city he could not train the boys. In case rain stops, the players will start training from Saturday”, the source added.
The coach was made aware about the probable squad by one of the selectors, it is also learnt here.
“The chief selector did discuss the probables with him when the team was in England for the World Cup”, a gentleman, aware about the proceedings told to the reporter.
The list was announced in the evening.
