Watch: AB de Villiers takes a stunning catch on BBL debut
Former Proteas star batsman AB de Villiers made his Big Bash League (BBL) debut at the Gabba on Tuesday, and he took no time whatsoever to leave a mark.
While playing for Brisbane Heat, he not only played a quickfire 40 runs off 32 balls including five shots to the boundary, but also took two catches to help his side end up victorious against Adelaide Strikers.
Among the two catches he took, one was really special at short extra cover to dismiss Jonathan Wells for 14 runs. This wicket also helped his teammate James Pattinson complete his five-wicket haul.
The sharp catch taken by de Villiers left the commentators so ecstatic that one of them had to say, “leading commentary again, AB welcome to the heat, takes the catch, Jimmy Pattison has five”.
