Afridi’s blistering knock seals a close win for Pakhtoons
Rovman Powell’s spectacular knock of 80 from just 35 balls goes in vain as Pakhtoons clinch a narrow win against the Northern Warriors in the 25th match of the T-10 league.
The former Pakistan captain just played a typical Afridi knock where he hammered 3 fours and 7 massive sixes for his unbeaten 59 off just 17 balls. And he took his side to a huge score of 135 runs in their 10 overs.
Earlier, Northern Warriors put Pakhtoons to bat first after winning the toss. Openers Andre Fletcher (14) and Cameron Delport (5) departed early without contributing much. Shafiqullah Shafiq (22) started off well, but an amazing delivery from Ravi Bopara ended his innings.
When Pakhtoons were in all sorts of trouble with 4 wickets down for 57, then came Afridi and played a captain’s and took the game away from the Warriors.
In reply, Warriors lost back to back wickets in the start of the chase courtesy of a brilliant bowling from Mohammad Irfan. However, no one could stop Rovman Powell from hitting the bowlers all over the park, but unfortunately, Powell couldn’t take Warriors over the line as they felt short off 13 runs in the end.
