Watch: Controversial run out of Jadeja in Chennai ODI
Indian left-handed all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed in a controversial run out in the first ODI between India and West Indies at Chennai.
West Indies have successfully started their ODI series against India by beating the hosts by 8 wickets. Indja batted first and put 287 runs on the board for the loss of eight wickets.
But the visitors chased down the target within 48 overs comfortably for the loss of only two wickets. Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer anchored the chase well for West Indies with their tons.
During the Indian innings, the on-field umpires made a blunder on the run out of Ravindra Jadeja. During the 48th over, Ravindra Jadeja was running towards the non-striker end and a throw from Roston Chase hit the stumps. At that moment, the Indian all-rounder was short of the crease and West Indies players made a small appeal.
But the on-field umpires didn’t refer it to the third umpire. The replays in the big screen showed that Jadeja was marginally short of the crease and West Indies players started to fume over umpires. Then after a discussion, they referred it to the third umpire and the third umpire declared the wicket for the visitors.
