Tigers had the most horror possible start to their innings. Lasith Malinga dismissed Liton Das and Shakib Al Hasan ln consecutive balls in the first over. Tamim Iqbal suffered a blow to his left wrist which finally led him to go off the field. He was later admitted to hospital.
Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Mithun settled the innings steadily. Only 24 runs were scored in the first powerplay. The pair then got loose and brought Bangladesh back in the game. They added 131 runs which looked promising for them.
Mithun, the aggressor, reached his first ODI fifty in 52 balls while Mushfiqur played 67 deliveries for his half-century. The partnership was broken when Malinga was brought back in the 26th over. Mithun departed scoring 68-ball 63 runs 5 fours and 2 sixes.
Mushfiqur was the sole fighter in the disaster. He brought up his sixth ODI hundred by flicking Lakmal behind the stumps in the 44th over. It was his second ton at the Asia Cup.
Tamim, who was ruled out of the tournament, made a shocking entrance to the crease after Mustafizur Rahman fell in a run out. Tamim blocked one ball with just one hand (right hand).
Mushfiqur then single-handedly took the control of the game. He added 32 more runs to Bangladesh’s total. Bangladesh were all out for 261 runs in 49.3 overs. Mushfiqur made Bangladesh’s all-time second-highest individual score 144 from 150 deliveries hitting 11 fours and 4 sixes.
