Highlights Bangladesh vs New Zealand, ICC Champions Trophy 2017

Magnificent Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad have taken Bangladesh to a memorable victory against New Zealand in the ninth match of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 at Swalec Stadium, Cardiff in Group A. The Tigers have knocked the Kiwis by 5 wickets.

Bangladesh restricted the Kiwis to 265/8 in 50 overs. Trump card Mosaddek was the most successful bowler in terms of wickets, picking up three for 13 in 3 overs. Taskin took two for 43.

Bangladesh were in deep trouble in their run-chase. Tim Southee sent back Tamim Iqbal (0), Sabbir Rahman (8) and Soumya Sarkar (3) within the first five overs. Later on, Mushfiqur left scoring 14 runs. The Tigers were 4 down for 33 in 11.4 overs.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad didn’t panic against strong New Zealand bowling attack. When Southee and Trent Boult were kept out of the attack, they started to take their chances.

Both the players were in a race of getting their respective hundreds. Shakib was the first one. He top-edged a hook off Adam Milne for a six to bring up his 7th ODI hundred in 111 balls. He ended up scoring a wonderful knock of 114 runs off 115 balls hitting 11 fours and a six.

The partnership between Mahmudullah and Shakib had 224 runs, which is the highest ever for any pair in Bangladesh’s ODI history.

Mahmudullah’s third ODI hundred came in 107 deliveries, all in ICC events. He made 102* smashing 8 fours and 2 sixes. A four by Mosaddek on the second ball of 47th over off Milne completed Bangladesh’s victory. They are still alive in the competition as they hope England to win against Australia.
