I’m not frustrated to miss the ton: Shadman
With his 76 runs, debutant Shadman Islam was the highest scorer of the first day for Bangladesh in the final Test match against Windies.
In absence of Tamim Iqbal, Bangladesh, on their trial of settling down the opening partnership in the longer version cricket, have so far undertaken several options, of which Shadman Islam has put the best show for the team on Friday at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
At the end of the day’s play, Shadman said it was a dream come true to play in the national side and he tried his best to serve the team.
“Perhaps I could not fulfill my responsibility but I put my best effort and hoping to give more and more for the national team in the coming days,” Shadman said.
“I batted in this innings like the way I play in domestic cricket. Even my senior mates in the team also suggested me to do that, to play my natural game and not try to do anything extra,” he added.
About the match condition after the first day, Shadman, reckoning the situation quite well for the team, said, “Bangladesh are actually in a good condition. We were looking for a big partnership after deciding to bat first. Shakib and Mahmudullah are still there; the team will bet on them in the second day, hope our plans would be implemented well in rest of the days.”
Denying the fact of being frustrated for not being able to work out the ton, Shadman said, “I’m not that frustrated although a century in debut would be quite an exceptional one. I tried to bat according to my team plans.”
