Sylhet Sixers’ new skipper Sohail Tanvir opted to field first with no Jason Roy in the starting XI while Nasir Hossain made a comeback.

Khulna started off with all guns blazing courtesy of Brendan Taylor (48) and Junaid Siddique’s (33) massive partnership of 73 runs in 7 overs in the opening stand. However, after the fall of the duo, Sylhet made some quick breakthrough to peg back Mamudullah’s men.

Alok Kapal, who picked up four wickets was the man behind the success. But in the death overs, Khulna fought back strongly once again due to the brilliance of David Wiese, who smacked 38 off just 25 balls to guide the side to a healthy score of 170 runs.

In reply, in the absence of David Warner, Sylhet’s batting order looked something missing and now found themselves in all sorts of trouble with 56-4.

But man in form Nicholas Pooran (28) and Mohammad Nawaz (54) rescued the sinking ship and took the match close in the death overs.

Khulna were in brink of choking after dropping Nawaz twice before finally departing in Junaid Khan’s over. In the end, Junaid’s brilliant death bowling sealed the victory for Khulna by 21 runs and with his victory, they stay alive in the tournament.

Brief score:

KT 170/9 (20 ov) | Taylor 48, Wiese 38 | Kapali 4/22
SS 149/7 (20 ov) | Nawaz 54 | Taijul 3/22, Yasir 1/14
