Watch: Kohli bowls some seamers in warm-up game
Indian skipper Virat Kohli had some short spells of bowling in the ongoing warm-up match between India and Cricket Australia XI in Sydney Cricket Ground.
India have started their preparations for the most awaited Test series against Australia which also marks the historical Border-Gavaskar trophy within both nations in the longest format of the game.
After leveling the T20I series 1-1, Virat Kohli and co are currently taking on Cricket Australia XI in Sydney Cricket Ground as a four-day warm up game. The first day was washed out due to rain and proceedings started on day 2.
Indian batsmen had a good outing with the bat on day 2 as Prithvi Shaw, Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari and Ajinkya Rahane scored fifties in the first innings. But they didn’t have a good outing day 3 as bowlers were not up to the expectations on them.
That had made the skipper to have a spell under his name also. As everyone knows Virat is a medium pace bowler with a short run-up. In his spell the skipper bowled some tough ones too to the oppositions.
Kohli created a chance in his very first ball as left-handed Nielsen played an aerial flick off his pads that fell just short of Jasprit Bumrah, who was standing at silly mid-on. Virat also failed to break the partnership and finished with a two-over spell wherein he conceded six runs.
Talking about the same, Kohli said, “Everyone laughs when I come on to bowl; does not matter how serious the situation is. When they see me hold the ball, everyone turns away. They are all smiling and laughing. Even I feel my bowling action is funny, but I think I get the job done which is most important. If people have some sort of fun watching me bowl, I don’t mind.”
