Bangladesh middle-order batsmanMahmudullah picked up his second century in the longer of the game during the second and final match against Zimbabwe. His brilliant century puts Bangladesh on the driving seat in the ongoing second Test against Zimbabwe at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Mahmudullah who is acting as stand-in skipper in this series brought up the century in the last ball before tea. Mahmudullah’s century came from 101 balls. He smashed four boundaries and two sixes in his quick innings. As soon as he reached the century, he declared the innings leaving the visitors a record chase of 442 runs in the fourth innings with four sessions to spare in the match.
Earlier, the right-handed batsman architected two important partnerships with Mohammad Mithun and Mehidy Hasan Miraz respectively after Bangladesh Zimbabwe fast bowlers Kyle Jarvis and Donald Tiripano left Bangladesh in tricky 25-4.
Mahmudullah and Mithun combinedly added 118 runs in the fifth wicket stand before the debutant was deceived by spinner Sikandar Raza. Afterward, the new batsman Ariful could not stay long in the middle as he departed after scoring only 5 runs leaving Bangladesh in trouble.
