Quetta Gladiators the new champion of PSL
After a long journey, PSL (Pakistan Super League) has found a new champion Quetta Gladiators. In the final match, Quetta Gladiators beat Peshawar Zalmi by eight wickets to win their first trophy of the campaign.
Losing the toss, Peshawar came to bat and looked shaky from the start of the match. They managed to get 138 runs only by losing 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Umar Amin was the highest scorer for Peshawar with 38 runs. Except him, wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal scored 21 runs, Sohaib Maqsood scored 20 runs and captain Darren Sammy managed to score 18 runs.
Mohammad Hasnain was the highest wicket taker for Quetta with three wickets. West Indian T20 specialist Dwayne Bravo took 2 wickets.
Chasing the small target of 139 runs, Quetta lost their star batsman Shane Watson’s wicket early in the innings. But after this, Ahmed Shehzad and Ahsan Ali tackled the situation calmly. Ahsan Ali couldn’t make his innings big and got out by scoring 25 runs. Then Rilee Rossouw and Ahmed Shehzad made a huge partnership of 73 runs and brought Quetta to the home for their first trophy.
Shehzad was unbeaten with 59 runs by 52 balls which included 6 fours and 1 six. And Rossouw scored 39 runs by 32 balls which included 5 fours. So, Quetta confirmed their victory with 13 balls and 8 wickets in hand.
Wahab Riaz got one wicket for Peshawar Zalmi.
This is the first trophy for Quetta Gladiators in the history of PSL. Back to 2016 and 2017, they reached the final but lost both times.
