WATCH: Vijay Shankar hits the stumps directly from long-on to run-out Ross Taylor

During the second T20I between India and New Zealand at Eden Park on February 8, Vijay Shankar, who was fielding at the long-on position, hit a direct throw to run-out Ross Taylor. The incident was happened during the 19th over of the 1st innings when Mitchell Santner was on strike and Bhuvneshwar Kumar with the ball.

The left-handed batsman faced the last delivery of the 19th over of the innings and hit a ball towards long-on. The batting duo completed the first run successfully and was trying to seal the second run. But, the fielder at long-on, Vijay Shankar collected the ball and hit the direct throw to dismiss the star player, Ross Taylor.

Coming to the match, batting first, New Zealand lost their top-order batsmen cheaply. But, the brilliant efforts from Ross Taylor, who scored 42 off 36 and Colin de Gradhomme, who scored 50 off 28, helped them to post a decent total on the board. Krunal Pandya has picked up three quality wickets for his team.

While chasing the target of 158, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan smashed the opponents all over the park and provided the blistering start to their team. While Rohit scored 50 off 29, Dhawan dismissed for 30 off 31 deliveries. Rishabh Pant, who came to bat at number three, scored a quick-fire knock of 40 off 28 deliveries to complete the match inside the 20 overs.
