WATCH: Watson indulges in war of words with Ishant and Rabada
Chennai Super Kings opening batsman Shane Watson was involved in an altercation with Delhi Capitals’ bowlers- Ishant Sharma and Kabiso Rabada during the passage of play at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, in Delhi on Tuesday (March 26).
The heated exchange took place during the third over of CSK’s batting innings when Ishant Sharma clinched his first wicket for the hosts, removing Ambati Rayudu for five runs. While celebrating the wicket, Ishant Sharma was caught on the cameras pointing his finger angrily at Shane Watson, who was at the non-striker’s end. This reaction received a lot of response from the crowd as well as on social media platform.
Ishant Sharma went up to Watson angrily as the two players exchanged some words before Ishant was calmed down and taken away by teammates at the spot so that things wouldn’t go beyond control. After Ishant’s angry gesture towards Watson, the latter did not take it very seriously as he found it funny and laughed at Ishant’s face.
After that Shane Watson got back to his cricketing business as he alone slammed 44 off 26 balls. In an bizarre turn of events, Watson also had some exchange with Kagiso Rabada as well, who accused Watson of running down the pitch during his bowling while he was positioning in the centre. When the Australian cited that he was just running between the wickets, Rabada wasn’t one to stay calm as he reacted with a ‘sarcastic clap’.

Needless to say, Delhi Capitals skipper Ricky Ponting, at the end, calmed things down as Rabada and Watson hugged each other soon after CSK won by six wickets. At the end, this is the spirit of cricket. CSK go to the top of the points table with back to back wins.
