Watch: Woakes pulls off a screamer to dismiss Imam
Usually, the fans praise the batsman or bowler for their efforts to score runs or to take wickets more often than not. But at times, they miss out on lauding the efforts attempted by the fielders.
To uplift the team’s morale during the course of the game, a good fielder can make a huge difference not just by saving runs but by taking good catches too.
The ongoing World Cup has witnessed some memorable moments from the word go making the fans go berzerk at the best scene. During the sixth match between England and Pakistan at Trent Bridge, England fast bowler Chris Woakes pulled off a spectacular diving catch near the boundary line to send Pakistan opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq packing. What a screamer!
The incident took place on the very first ball of the 21st over when Imam attempted to go for a big shot on England all-rounder Moeen Ali. He stepped out of the crease in a bid to hit the off-spinner over extra cover region.
Spotting the ball which was high in the air, Woakes, who was at long-off made quick runs to his right side and then ended up timing his dive to inch perfection.
Imam, who started batting with Fakhar Zaman, looked in decent touch for his 44 (58) including three fours and a six.
