Miraz notes bowling in good areas as reason behind success
Windies, being utterly upset by spin armory of Bangladesh, lost the second and last Test encounter within two and half days that helped the hosts to wrap up the series 2-0 on Sunday.
For the home side, 21 year old all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz led the destruction finishing with the best figures for any Bangladesh bowler so far in Test cricket. 12 for 117 – the way Mehedi came into terms for the match, earned him the man of the match trophy.
After sunset, he was the one to represent Bangladesh in the press briefing, happily noted his contention in contributing towards the team success.
“I am happy that I could bowl in good areas,” Mehedi said,
“If I could not bowl in good areas I wouldn’t have got the wickets and it wouldn’t have served the purpose of the team.”
The youngster squeezed a 7-fer in the first innings of Windies followed by a fifer in the second innings.
Backing the decision of recruiting four spinners in the team, Mehedi said it provided some sustenance in the bowling attack to deliver for longer period of time.
“Sometimes we get tired so it is better to have bowlers who can bowl in partnership. We had a good communication between us,” he said.
Despite the best effort, the rising all-rounder ranked the previous one as his best; he said, “I think I would keep that [England Test] ahead as I was quite inexperienced at that point. Now I have played international cricket for two years. But this one is special too.”
