We are desperate to back on the pitch: Mahmudullah
Coronavirus pandemic has engulfed the normalcy of cricket world. Cricket has been off from the ground for a long time. Both Cricketers and cricket fans are eagerly awaiting for the comeback of cricket once the global pandemic becomes at ease from its lethal contamination.
Bangladesh all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad said that he is desperate to back on the pitch as it has been a long time without cricket. He disclosed that in a Facebook live session with Bdcrictime.com. In the live chat session, he shared his personal experience with cricket and aspects from his personal life. At once he was asked about the preparation of Bangladesh team for the upcoming T20 World Cup which is expected to be held in Australia in October this year.
“Actually it’s has been very worse for us. It has interrupted the normal flow of life. Therefore, our first priority is to back on the field as early as possible, we are desperate to back on the pitch again,”
Due to the global pandemic, many sporting event has postponed. Bangladesh’s all scheduled series has been paused due to the global pandemic. The all-rounder said, “If everything would be normal, we would have played 2-3 T20 series in the meantime. It would give us much confidence and firmness to do well in the World Cup but due to the pandemic it has been very reverse for us.”
Bangladesh will play in the qualifying stage of the T20 World Cup to play in the main stage. About the preparation of Bangladesh team, he said, “If everything comes normal, we have to be strong in mentally to do well. I strongly believe we can do something better in the World Cup as we have the potential players in newcomers like Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Mustafizur Rahman, Mosaddek Hossain. We also have experienced players like Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim. The newcomers are very energetic and they are much hardworking. I believe we will do something better.”
