A 36 run victory against Comilla Victorians took Rangpur Riders into their first BPL final, although for captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, it becomes rather a common phenomenon in the Bangladesh Premier League for Bangladesh limited over captain, this is his fourth time in BPL final.

The match, however, ran amidst controversy and organizational chaos after rain interrupted the proceeding in the allotted day for the second qualifier. Despite the absence of any reserve day in the playing conditions, the two teams agreed to complete the match in the following day.

“We have been thrown out of the competition in two bad days but I’m proud of my team. I think we played like champions the way we performed in the rest of the tournament. The team played wonderfully well in the group stage,” Tamim said.

The Victorians’ captain also feels contention upon the performance of local cricketers in crowd of foreign recruits in every franchise.

“Among all these teams, Comilla Victorians is the ground where local cricketers performed much better. Youngsters like Saifuddin, Mehedi Hasan played really well. Of course we have had the target of playing in the final and being the champion that did not work for now,” he said.
