Williamson picks best batsman in world cricket with surprise inclusion
If the list of the top four batsmen in world cricket at the moment is made, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson’s name will be in the top four surely. But who is Williamson’s favorite batsman? That’s the question David Warner asked his Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate Williamson on the Instagram show.
In response, Williamson added not one, but two batsmen to his list of favorite batsmen. They are Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. “It’s very difficult to name one person,” he said. “So these two had to be chosen.”
Regarding India captain Kohli, Williamson said,
“He has a hunger to rule in all three types of cricket. It’s good to see Virat play, it’s good to play against him. I also like to learn from him. He has raised the standard of batting a lot.”
Why does he like De Villiers of South Africa? “I know de Villiers now only plays in franchise leagues,” Williamson said. “But in terms of efficiency and at the highest level. He’s a cricketer of our time and with a special skill. But there are many more good cricketers.”
Kohli himself is respectful enough about Williamson. Earlier, Kohli was seen sitting on the edge of the field talking to Williamson during a match on the New Zealand tour. Praising New Zealand’s cricket culture, Kohli said, “Williamson is a cricketer with whom you can talk about life from the boundary line.”
