Bangladesh batsman Yasir Ali Chowdhury has been ruled out of the ODI and T20 series’ against the West Indies after failing to recover from a back injury sustained on the first day of the three-day practice match against the Cricket West Indies President’s XI in Antigua.
A subsequent MRI scan revealed Discogenic Back Pain on the Lumbar spine and he was expected to be back in action time for the ODI and T20 international series’. However, it now appears that the batsman’s return to playing will be delayed. Therefore making him unavailable for this series.
National Team physio Bayjedul Islam said: “Yasir Ali has not been recovering as anticipated from his back injury and could not start his rehab. As he is still restricted in his physical work after nearly two weeks of rest, we can conclude that his injury time will be extended. He will be missing the remaining matches and is therefore out of West Indies series.”
Yasir Ali, who has played 12 international matches for Bangladesh, will be returning back to his country. His recovery will be monitored by the BCB medical team.
