Zimbabwe are poised to host Afghanistan for a three-game ODI series followed by a three-game T20I series. The first ODI is scheduled to take place on June 4th (Saturday) at Harare Sports Club. The hosts last played an ODI match in January when they faced Sri Lanka in a bilateral series but sadly lost 2-1.

Zimbabwe will host Afghanistan for a limited overs series that includes three ODIs and as many T20Is. The first ODI will be played at Harare Sports Club and will start at 1:30pm IST.
Zimbabwe last played an Odi series against Sri Lanka. With challenging wickets, the team put up a hard fight against the Lankan Lions and won one of the three games. They led Sri Lanka very narrowly in the remaining two games.
Zimbabwe hope they can play against Afghanistan in the same way. Craig Ervine will have to play a big role for the hosts along with Sikandar Raza and Regis Chakabva. The bowling consisting of Tendai Chatara, Blessing Muzarambani and Luke Jongwe looks decent.
Afghanistan, on the other hand, recently played against Bangladesh and lost the series 1-2. However, with players like Rashid Khan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Mohammad Nabi on the team, they will start as favourites.

Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe Preview

Zimbabwe's miserable performance with the racquet on a fantastic course in Ahmedabad was the main reason for his fall in the first T20I. The Indian batsmen failed to find momentum for their innings after losing three early wickets within the first five overs. The Afghan bowlers matched their lines, lengths and variations that allowed them to keep the screws tight on the Indian batsmen.
The overwhelming hitting screen assumed the hosts could only afford 124 to 7 in their 20 overs despite Shreya Iyer's 48-ball 67. Bowling with plenty of pace and heart, Jofra Archer finished the game with a try from 3 to 23 in his four overs. Zimbabwe's downturn was hardly predictable after Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli scored their best orders of 1, 4 and 0 respectively.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, struck freely and without pressure for the first time on this tour. The fact that almost a new pair of 11 players has moved into the territory may also have helped the squad sideline one of those allies in the Test series.
Zimbabwe will likely be under pressure to return in the next game and do far better as the ensuing triumph will put them in an all-win scenario moving forward in this sequence.

Pitch Report and Conditions

Batter and bowler benefit equally from the surface. It can be a high scoring pitch once the turf is used and therefore batsmen will try to settle into the game to hit big later. The bowlers will get a lot out of this pitch. The average score of the first inning is 230 and therefore the captain who wins the toss would try to bat first.

Weather Report

It will be quite a hot day in Ahmedabad with a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius while the evening will be more comfortable with temperatures between 26 and 33 degrees Celsius. The humidity is 38 percent. There is no knockdown probability for this game.

Toss Prediction

The toss plays a key role in all game decisions of the Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe series in March 2021. Based on our toss prediction, the team that wins the toss may decide to bat first depending on the weather forecast and the condition of the field.

Top Performers Probably best player in the Match

Rahmanullah Gurbaz Opening slugger Rahmanullah Gurbaz produced a great century in the last ODI, which played Afghanistan against Bangladesh. He went undefeated and hit a 110-ball 106 to lead his team to victory. With a strong batting team, he'll be looking to kickstart the innings and hit big on top of that.
Rashid Khan Prolific all-rounder Rashid Khan will be in fine form following his successful IPL stint. He was one of the standout players in Afghanistan's previous ODI series and helped his side by picking a handful of wickets. He will try to execute his techniques and make his experience work.
