Bangladesh Under-19s clean sweep Sri lanka Under-19s
Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by 50 runs on the world record day of Tawhid Hridoy. With this win, Bnagladesh Under-19 Cricket Team clinched the series by 4-0. The first match was abandoned due to bad weather. Tawhid Hridoy has become the first-ever batsman to score three consecutive hundred in the history of U19 cricket.
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka faced each other in the fifth and last ODI on Tuesday, November 19. Bangladesh, who batted first at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, lost 7 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs and made 283 runs. In reply, the Lankans scored 233 runs before being dismissed in 44.4 overs.
Batting first, Bangladesh opener Pritom Kumar (1) was quick to get off the bat. Another opener Sajid Hossain scored 21 runs. Prantik Nawrose Nabil, who came in at number three, scored 65 runs off 77 balls. Hridoy played at number four and scored a brilliant innings of 111-run. In his 102-ball innings, he hit five sixes, along with three fours. In the third wicket, Nabil and Hridoy added 69 runs.
Parvez Hossain scored 38 runs off 57 balls. In the end, Avishek Das played a quick knock of 24-run off 12 balls to set a target of 284 runs for Sri Lanka.
Chasing the target of 284runs, Lankan opener Mohammad Samaaz scored 40 runs off 38 balls. Ravindu Rasantha, who came in at number four, scored 84 runs and was the best batsman for Sri Lanka. In his 92-ball innings, there were nine fours and two sixes. Nipun Dananjaya scored 21 runs. Avishka Perera (30) and Rohan Sanjaya (27) fought at the end but didn’t able to win the match for the team.
Bangladesh’s Shahin Alom and Hasan Morad took two wickets each while Avishek Das and Shamim Hossain took one wicket each.
Tawhid Hridoy was adjusted man of the match for his superb century.
