Ireland and Bangladesh will join the world's top eight teams in the battle for the World T20 trophy. A thumping in the end, but Scotland can take some heart from batting through the overs. Another superb performance from Bangladesh. It promises to be some final between them and Ireland.
Scotland won the toss and put Bangladesh to bat first. The openers Shamima Sultana (22) and Ayasha Rahman (20) started off well. But after their departure, Bangladesh kept losing wickets. But Nigar Sultana (31) was solid at the crease and remained at the crease till the end to take Bangladesh to a fighting total of 125 runs in their 20 overs.
In reply, Scotland's SJ Bryce started off solidly and was on her way to score a fifty before in form bowler Famima Khatun earned the all important breakthrough. And, Scotland lost their way in the game right after her dismissal.
Bangladesh kept taking wickets and they also got a team hattrick. Three in three balls. Though they managed to not bowled out, but they were far away from the target what Bangladesh threw to them. In the end, they only managed to score 76 with the loss of 7 wickets.
With this win Bangladesh Women qualifies for the Women's World T20 to be held in West Indies later this year along with Ireland Women.
