Bangladesh’s tour of Sri Lanka confirmed
Bangladesh’s tour of Sri Lanka has finally been confirmed despite Covid-19 fear. Bangladesh will travel to Sri Lanka at the scheduled time as Sri Lanka have agreed to not tighten up the Covid-19 protocols.
The Test series will start from April 21, for which the Bangladesh Test team will fly to Sri Lanka on April 12. Coronavirus cases are on the rise worldwide once again. In such a situation, Sri Lanka wanted to tighten the Covid-19 protocol for the Bangladesh team’s tour.
Last October, Sri Lanka made a rule of 14-day quarantine for the visiting team. Then Bangladesh didn’t visit Sri Lanka as that protocol seemed difficult. This year, Sri Lanka hosted England by easing the Covid protocol. It was said that these rules would also apply to Bangladesh. The Tigers will be able to start training after 3 days of quarantine.
However, as the coronavirus outbreak increased, Sri Lanka again proposed a 14-day quarantine policy. Then after discussions between the two boards, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) agreed to the quarantine condition for 3 days.
In a message to the BCB’s Cricket Operations Department on Monday (April 5), the SLC confirmed the three-day quarantine policy, allaying fears about the tour of Sri Lanka. Sources in the Cricket Operations Department confirmed the matter to BDCricTime.
