Five cricketers who own successful business ventures
Not all cricketers earn their whole income from playing cricket or endorsing brands. Some of them invest their money to increase their empire outside of the world of cricket. Cricketers are no less than celebrities, and they know how to use their brand value for their benefit. Some cricketers have taken advantage of this fact to set up their business ventures. The following cricketers not only rule the field, but also own and run their business successfully:
The former Indian Cricket Team Captain, also famously known as Captain Cool, has not only led his national team to win the World Cup in 2011, but also captains Chennai Super Kings who, along with top IPL team Mumbai Indians, have the most IPL wins. His achievements include being included in the annual Time 100 list as one of the most influential people in the world, being the winner of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, and even having a biopic made after his real life. However, Dhoni has invested a lot of his earning in other sports. He co-owns the Ranchi-based hockey club Ranchi Rays franchise in Hockey India League, as well as the Chennai-based football club Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League, and a Supersport World Championship team called Mahi Racing Team India. He also owns a lifestyle brand called SEVEN and a production house called Dhoni Entertainment, whose web series has been the biggest Hotstar Specials launch till date.
The recently turned vegan cricketer is as good a businessman as he is a player. The Indian Cricket Team Captain has been the top-ranked ODI batsman since 2017 and is also the current leading batsman in the Test rankings. He is also considered as one of the World’s most famous athletes by ESPN, and has been featured in the annual Time 100 list as one of the most influential people in the world. His business feats are as impressive as his sports achievements. Just like the former Indian team captain, the current captain is a big fan of other sports. He co-owns the Indian Super League club FC Goa along with the International Premier Tennis League franchise in UAE Royals, and Bengaluru Yodhas franchise in Pro Wrestling League. The youth icon also co-owns the youth fashion brand WROGN. His other successful business investments include a chain of gym and fitness centres spread across various regions of India, children fitness venture called Stepathlon Kids, and holding shares in a London-based social networking site for sports lovers called Sport Convo.
