Gilchrist believes India are one of the favourites of T20 World Cup
Former Australian wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist recently said that India are among the favourites to win the next T20 World Cup which will be played in Australia next year.
The International cricket is gearing up for the next big event, ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia. With less than one year to go, all the teams have started their visionary preparations for the big tournament.
And of course, cricket experts and former cricketers have started to have their says on the event, specially quoting the favourites to win the trophy. Former Australian wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist also joined the list and said India are one among the strongest favourites to win the trophy next year.
“Probably they (India) will be featuring in semi-finals and the finals. I can’t predict who is going to win but I suspect that the usual suspects like India, England, Australia and New Zealand will probably make the long way, semi-finals of course,” Gilchrist said at a promotional event in India.
Also he added that it is hard to predict a winner for the tournament with a long time to go for the tournament since it is the shortest version of the game at International level. He stated Pakistan as an example with their recent failures in the format.
“Pakistan are number one ranked team in the format, so you cannot rule them out. But T20 cricket is a bit of lottery so it is hard to predict the winner until the final runs are scored or wickets are taken,” he concludedd.
