Mohammad Nabi to captain Rangpur Rangers in BPL 2019-20

Former Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi will lead Rangpur Rangers during the 2019-20 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season as per the announcement of the franchise team.

The 34-year old Nabi participated in BPL before, but this is the first time he has been appointed as captain of any side.

A top all-rounder in ICC T20I rankings, Nabi is one of the key performers for Afghanistan in their recent day cricket. He featured in Afghanistan’s first-ever T20I and ODI, before appearing in their landmark maiden Test match against India in 2018.

Nabi retired from Test cricket after playing the last longer version match against Bangladesh in which the newly adorned Test nation registered comprehensive win.

The forthcoming Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League 2019-2020 will start on December 11 with seven franchises featuring in the competition.

Nabi-led Rangpur Rangers will take on Cummilla Warriors in their first match on December 11.
