Nasir to lead Pune Devils in T10 League 2021

Nasir Hossain has been named as the captain of Pune Devils in Abu Dhabi T10 League 2021. [Read in Bangla: টি১০এ পুনে ডেভিলসের অধিনায়ক নাসির]

The Pune Devils squad is coached by South African legend Jonty Rhodes. Despite having the likes of World No.1 T20I batsman Dawid Malan, Mohammad Amir and Chadwick Walton in the camp, Pune handed over the captaincy to the Bangladeshi all-rounder.

Nasir was drafted in from category C in the players’ draft. He was dropped from Bangabandhu T20 Cup 2020 draft list over not being able to reach fitness benchmark.

Nasir Hossain will captain Pune Davils in T10 League

The 29-year-old did not play any international match in the last three years.

Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Monir Hossain is the second Bangladeshi in Pune squad. He is a pick just before the start of the tournament.

Also, the first cricketer in Test history to score a hundred and take hat-trick in a same match – Sohag Gazi – has made his way to Maratha Arabians, who have picked several Bangladeshi players.

Taskin Ahmed could not be able to join Shoaib Malik’s Maratha squad due to NOC. Although Muktar Ali and Mosaddek Hossain are already there.

Afif Hossain and Mahedi Hasan, who were part of Bangladesh ODI squad against West Indies, have joined Bangla Tigers, the only team hailing from Bangladesh. Afif was announced as the icon as well as the vice-captain. Caribbean batsman Andre Fletcher will lead the side.

The Abu Dhabi T10 kicks off on Thursday (January 28). The teams are divided in two groups. A- Bangla Tigers, Delhi Bulls, Maratha Arabians and Northern Warriors. B- Deccan Gladiators, Pune Devils, Qalandars and Team Abu Dhabi.

Defending champions Maratha Arabians will lock horns with Northern Warriors in the opening game. Deccan Gladiators-Pune Devils and Bangla Tigers-Delhi Bulls will face off later in the day.
