It's been a while since the terms are not good between Sri Lanka Cricket and Sri Lankan cricketers, regarding the new payment scheme. The players are not happy with the new contracts and denied to sign them by the deadline, which was given as June 3rd. Just a day ahead of the departure for England, Sri Lanka Cricket top officials and Sri Lanka Cricketers were involved in a conversation regarding the contracts. The conversation turned out as a heated one and Sri Lankan cricketers were asked to leave the bubble if they are not willing to sign the annual and tour contracts. Also, the players were threatened with three years suspension. However, again a meeting was held between the board members and the players in the afternoon. There a conclusive decision has been taken and the scheduled England tour will go as per schedule. Sri Lankan players also agreed to sign a tour declaration, only if a transparency clause is added to the declaration. The contract issue will be resolved after the completion of the England tour. “I think we have reached an agreement with the players now. They will tour England,” a Senior SLC official told. “The players have suggested a clause seeking for transparency to be given at the end of the tour, which has been proposed to Sri Lanka Cricket, or some form of undertaking that the sheets of assessment will be disclosed to the players once they return, and in the event of an issue, for a model on performance and fitness to be devised,” Nishan Premathiratne, the lawyer representing the players said.
