Soumya to face punishment in starting of his new life
Various controversies and criticisms have been made of the marriage of star cricketer of Bangladesh national cricket team Soumya Sarkar. There have even been fights in his marriage. Police have arrested two people for stealing mobile phones during the marriage.
In the midst of all these troubles, the formalities of the marriage are over, but the problems are not finished for Soumya and his family. It is learned that Soumya and his family are going to face punishment.
Soumya may have to stand in the saddle because of the use of deer’s skin at the wedding blessing ceremony. Bangladesh Wildlife Crime Control Unit (WCCU) Inspector Ashim Mallik, has investigated the incident. WCCU will take action only after the investigation report is submitted.
However, the investigation report has not been submitted yet.
WCCU Director ASM Jahir Uddin Akon told a media that Inspector Ashim Mallik was sent from Dhaka to Soumya’s house in Satkhira to investigate the incident. He said after completing the investigation and submitting the report to the office, next steps would be taken according to the report.
Jahir Uddin had earlier said that no one can marry or perform rituals using wildlife. It is also a crime to keep deer skin. We are looking into this.
It may be recalled that on 21 February, Soumya used deer skin as a seat for his weeding blessing ceremony in Satkhira. And some pictures of the blessing went viral on Facebook.
According to one picture, Soumya has been blessed with sitting on deer skin. Two more pictures show Soumya is standing on the skin with the family.
Some commented that this was a religious practice, but many said that there is no such morality in traditional religion. This is a matter of Soumya’s family. Some have said that even if there is such a custom, it should not be observed. This did not suit them.
Thus, controversy and criticism surrounding the use and use of deer skin at home continued.
Soumya’s father, former education officer Kishori Mohan Sarker, spoke about the incident infront of the media.
He said, “This is a sign of our family tradition. The skin is mainly used for prayer. It’s too old It has been used for ages. I got it in the descent. I received deer skin from my father. I know he got it from his father.
“I have received many more things from my ancestors. Everything is with me. Soumya is my little boy. I am having a very busy time with his marriage. However, a group is making the things complicated abou the deer skin. I do not know why.”
But he did not answer any question as to whether he has any license to keep deer skin.
Satkhira Sadar Police Station OC Mostafizur Rahman said, “The players of the national team are the property of our country. They should also obey the laws of the country. You need to know if they have any licenses for wildlife skin.”
Accordingly, under section 6 of the Wildlife Conservation Act, a person without a license who is keeping animals or wildlife skin or exporting different things made by them to other country may receive a maximum penalty of one-year imprisonment or fine of Tk 50,000. The same offense is punishable by up to three years or a fine of two lakh taka.
