South African cricketer Bjorn Fortuin accepts Islam
South African cricketer Bjorn Fortuin has accepted Islam long with his wife in the holy month of Ramadan last night. The all-rounder himself has confirmed the news through popular social media Instagram.
His new name is Imaad now. It is known that he turned into Islam of his own free will. Multiple stories have been shared on Fortuin’s Instagram account.
Fortuin’s teammate Tabraiz Shamsi’s wife shared a photo of Fortuin with his wife, which Fortuin’s reshared. Shamsi’s wife was congratulating the couple for accepting Islam in the holy month of Ramadan. There it was said: “Last night Bjorn took his Shahada. Alhamdulillah, and during the month of Ramadan. He chose the name Imaad. So proud of you.” His wife’s name is Mieshke Aysen who reshared the same picture on Instagram.
Another screenshot he posted, where he and his wife were congratulated. He thanked the person who congratulated him on the reply. “Congratulations. May you both be blessed with everlasting happiness and love. So happy for both of you.”
Fortuin is the second South African cricketer who have accepted Islam as religion. Earlier, pacer Wayne Parnell accepted Islam back in 2011.
The 26-year-old cricketer has played one ODI and six T20I matches for the South African national team. The left-arm spinner also took part in the recently concluded T20 series against Pakistan.
