Raja tweeted his reaction to the incident. “So Umar Akmal officially makes it to the list of idiots! Banned for 3 years. What a waste of a talent! It’s high time that Pakistan moved towards passing a legislative law against match fixing. Behind bars is where such jack asses belong! Otherwise brave for more!!”, he tweeted.

Umar was recently temporarily banned before the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020. He was supposed to play for Quetta Gladiators. The Anti-Corruption Branch of the PCB sent him a show-cause notice. But Umar decided not to challenge the PCB. He admitted that he did not know about the fixing. As a result, he was temporarily suspended on February 20 this year. He was then banned for three years yesterday.

It is to be noted that in his career, Umar has been repeatedly involved in controversy. The PCB fined him for defaming the trainer during practice in 2020.
