Watch: Kiwi cricketer clips brilliant ‘one-handed flying’ catch
During the final of New Zealand’s domestic T20 tournament, Super Smash, between Wellington Firebirds and Auckland Aces on Sunday, Ace’s captain Craig Cachopa grabbed a stunning one-handed flying catch to dismiss Firebirds’ opener Devon Conway.
Pacer Mitchell McClenaghan delivered a full length delivery to Wellington’s batsman Conway who was batting at the verge of a half century. His 38 ball 49 came to an end when the batsman’s powerful drive shot was captured magnificently by Cachopa flying to his left to complete the one-handed catch.
The next few overs saw Wellington losing three wickets adding 25 runs on the board. Netherland’s wicket-keeper batsman Logan van Beek smeered the late order with a blistering knock of 15 off just 8 deliveries thus pushing the team’s total to 168 for 7 at the end of the 20 overs.
In reply, Auckland Aces made a good start with Martin Guptill smashing highest score for the team. Although Auckland lost quick wickets in the beginning, Guptill and captain Cachopa added 42 runs for the fourth wicket where Cachopa scored 25.
Wellington Friebirds came out winning the match by 22 runs as Auckland Aces’ innings came to an end at 146 for 9 in 20 overs.
