“I am also excited to work with some great players both from Sri Lanka and foreign countries.”

Colombo Kings team has senior players like Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, who both have captained the national team. However, the team coach didn’t want to speculate the name of the captain for the LPL.

“We have few options and the decision will be taken in my consultation with the team owner and the operations wing,” he added.

Whatmore was too pleased with the news about possible participation of Andre Russell.

“Russell is a specialist player for the T20 matches and any team would like to have him in the side. We welcome him in our squad.”

The 32-year-old Windies all-rounder had earlier pulled out of the tournament citing hamstring injury. However, he is believed to have confirmed his playing in the tournament.

“I am looking forward to joining the team very soon,” Whatmore, who coached Sri Lanka twice in the past, signed off.
