Youngster Saif Hassan fails in his Test debut innings
Saif Hassan was close to make a Test debut in India series couple of months ago. But Saif Hassan’s dream of wearing white jersey wasn’t finally fulfilled due to injury.
This time, Saif got the chance against Pakistan finally in the first Test, though not against India. Shadman Islam and Imrul Kayes had not been in the Test against Pakistan due to injury. So Saif Hassan’s debut was assured.
But he’d surely want to forget his debut innings. The young cricketer, in his first match in white jersey, scored zero run.
21-year old Saif had been a regular face of domestic cricket in Bangladesh. He has 4 centuries and 12 half-centuries in first-class cricket. In addition, he scored 14 half-centuries and 6 centuries in list ‘A’ cricket. So the selectors had confidence in him because of great potential.
But Saif couldn’t able to fulfill the expectation of the selectors in his debut innings surely. He faced just two balls in the opening and went back scoring zero run. He wanted to deal with Shaheen Shah Afridi’s outside off-stump ball but his timing wasn’t right at all. So the ball went to the second slip to the hand of Asad Shafiq and he had to go without scoring any run.
